Often the special service, the out-of-the-ordinary or creative ministry, offers the olive branch to those skeptical or scared of the traditions of church and draws many to re-enter the fellowship with great hopes of a new start. And, creative evangelism, a new teaching method--Good News Chalk Talks--opens those doors for reconciliation with God and with the church for many in today's society and in every community who need a strong walk with God. We affirm every invitation for any community and provide promotional materials to help get out the word. Have you done all you can, including providing this creative open door, to bring people to Christ and to bring Christians back to church? Give us call today, and let's make some plans to invite people into God's community to know Christ and thrive in their confidence in Christian faith.

How Do You DO Chalk Evangelism?

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/how-do-you-do-chalk-evangelism

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/how-do-you-do-chalk-evangelism#comments

Uncategorized

Doing chalk art, for me seemed the most difficult part of chalk evangelism when I first started in this ministry. I was not a "born artist." In fact, I could not comprehend how to paint or draw in any way, shape, or form. However, I could "do evangelism," which involves sharing the good news with people about God's remedy for sin and death through His precious Son's salvation work--that definitely defines my life and calling in Christ Jesus. So, art was presented to me as [...]

So, art was presented to me as a "TOOL" for my ministry of evangelism.

How does one "DO" art? My Evangelism Professor David Legrand put it to me in these simple steps:
If you put the right color in the right place at the right time, then you will produce a recognizable drawing. That made sense to my 24-year-old logical mind. In Professor Legrand's 4-hour training class, he noted simply that there are three basic shapes of all things created: the rectangle, the circle, and the line (which is almost always curved in nature, except the horizon line where the earth meets the sky from our point of view). He also noted that animals, humans, and structures simply needed these shapes drawn and then expanded into correct proportions. Another principle of art taught us in those two weeks of training as part of the professor's Audio-Visual Teaching Methods class was the principle of perspective: "Close objects are larger and darker in tone than distant objects." There you go, art is applied principles.

I use art for ministry because the Bible uses word pictures prolifically. Each letter of the Hebrew language is both phonetic and pictorial. The vivid dialogue of every biblical author moved by the Holy Spirit paints pictures for the reader to better understand and apply God's Holy Word. Jesus illustrated His sermons with word pictures, often depicting scenes from nature and His immediate surroundings. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, my sermons can be shorter when effectively illustrated. In the end, before I endeavored to learn chalk art for ministry, I prayed, "Dear heavenly Father, I am not an artist by nature, but I am willing to use art to share the Gospel and teach the Bible. I know that you can give me ability to draw with chalk and ask for that ability. If I come out of Mr. Legrand's two-week chalk art class with two or three big, beautiful Gospel illustrations, then I will build an easel over Christmas break (1993) and say, 'YES,' to every door you open. In Jesus' Name, AMEN!" Art can be a learned skill, but it is also a gift from God.

Fitting God's Gifts Together

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/fitting-gods-gifts-together

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/fitting-gods-gifts-together#comments

Uncategorized

(At age 7, I received Christ as Savior. "
"Pray about that--ask God for the ability; then, put feet to your prayers and sit in on my class Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for the next two weeks."
Two weeks later, I had THREE big, beautiful Bible Chalk Drawings. When I prayed, I told God that if He gave me the ability, that I would build an easel over Christmas break, and every door He opened that I would say yes. All of my talents to that point came together in Good News Chalk Talks ministry: singing, preaching, piano, accordion & drawing. I built the easel, people started calling by work of mouth that January of 1994. What a happy journey that's still amazing. (Pictured below is Professor David Legrand at age 86, still encouraging our ministry after 32 years of Good News Chalk Talks.)

Reaching Vehicle

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/reaching-vehicle

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/reaching-vehicle#comments

Uncategorized

You would love 7-year-old Remington! He and his grandfather pray daily for missionaries; and, he asked for the chalk drawing first-thing when we met at church last month. He and many others plan to help us give out Bibles & Gospel Tracts when we do our street ministry for the Concert of Hope in Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach, SC, this October 10-11. Missionary support keeps us reaching and teaching the next generation of Gospel servants a [...]

Missionary support keeps us reaching and teaching the next generation of Gospel servants as we work alongside local churches across America. We carry the tools for sharing Gospel Chalk Art in all size venues to every door God opens, big or small.
Thank YOU for helping us keep moving forward in ministry. The new Reaching-Vehicle is alreach in service to Praise God as we keep our eyes on eternity fixed in 2026!!

"Poof! How many times have I heard, "Well, Brother Dwight, I don't see how you can go to that kind of church with your ministry and expect us to have you over here in our church? Explain yourself--do you go just anywhere?" Of course I will go anywhere to share the same Good News Chalk Talks, the same message from God's Holy Word, that Jesus died on the cross for sinners, arose from the grave in victory over sin and death, and whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but hath everlasting life! We always share the Gospel and always preach the Bible with every Gospel Chalk Talk. Churches of all kinds and names who still love the Gospel and hold to the authority of the Word of God invite us to come, and we always say, "Yes!" We partner with local churches across American and around the world to go to jails, public and private schools, colleges, and universities, extended-care facilities, public parks, parades of all kinds, festivals and gatherings for the soul purpose of lifting up the Christ and Scripture.
When I prayed, in 1993, asking God for the gift/ability of drawing with chalk to illustrate the Bible and the Gospel, I said, "Lord, if you give me this ability, then every door you open I will say, 'yes!.'" Should we not be going to where the lost, the undone, the needy, and the confused are congregating? Should we say, "NO," just because a sign over the door says one thing or another about an institution or organization? I have drawn in the open air, in restaurants, in church buildings, in school buildings, behind bars, on grass, carpet, concrete, sand along a public beach area, on the courthouse lawn, on a front porch, in living rooms, in garages, in house churches, among under the signs of over a dozen Christian denominational names. But, I have never deviated one iota from the message of Christ and never denied the authority or whole-counsel of Scripture. It is indeed a joy to have a spirit of faith according to Paul's description in 2 Corinthians 4:13-14, "We, having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you." As the song goes, "When WE ALL get to heaven...." Loving taking the Gospel to every creature--who would you leave out because of a place, title, name, or prejudice?

What--An Evangelist In Our Church?

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/what-an-evangelist-in-our-church

https://www.chalktalks.net/blog/what-an-evangelist-in-our-church#comments

Uncategorized

According to Ephesians 4: 11-12, "He [God] gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ." The evangelist, listed as one of four vocational roles in the ministry, is validated as a paid ministry according to 1st Timothy 5:17-18 and 1st Corinthians 9:9-14. Phillip's life illustrates the broad availability of an evangelist in both personal and public sharing of the Gospel in Acts 6 & 8. He served in a local church setting as well as traveled to fulfill a broader role of engaging people with the Gospel and teaching the Bible for the purpose of salvation. As for me and my house, it's been a great joy to serve in this calling for over 26 years! The reward of the WORK of Evangelism comes when I engage & lead someone to Jesus with the preaching of The Cross, enrich a believer's life by illustrating God's Word in a fresh way, or train and encourage others in their calling of creative evangelism.
In putting this forward for discussion among friends and acquaintances, one person responded in this very positive and hopeful way: "I don't understand why the "Christians" of today are so different than the "Christians" of 20 years ago. We have the same Bible, Jesus is the same, and the world seems to be in a worse condition and its people are in the same desperate need of a Savior. Yet, so many Christians today are unwilling to commit and serve; everything seems to be more important to them then even attending church or spreading the Good News. I know that in the end times that this is what we can expect, but then those faithful few should be more desperate to work harder for the coming of Our Lord and to let our lives shine the Light of Jesus. Your question of what will bring back the vocational evangelist to a more prominent role in our western culture? I would have to say that Today's Christian needs to wake up and get back to work in the church and bring THEM IN to hear. "For how shall they hear without a preacher?" If we, Christians can't find REVIVAL in our lives, wake up and get back to work, then there will be little "paving the way" for others to "hear" what they need to hear. Why should "others" want Christ if they can't see any difference in our lives then theirs?"
Another very keen Bible scholar and fellow minister asked these questions of those who feel their church is a lost cause and their ministry is over there:

Are there still lost souls in this town with whom you have not personally shared the Gospel?

Are there people out of church or unsaved in the community that you have not visited in their homes and spoken to about God's Word and the Gospel?

Have you used every means at your disposal to further the Gospel here?

Our goal as a family in full-time, vocational evangelism is to Engage all ages with the Gospel using chalk art as a viable tool, to Enrich believers with clearly illustrated Bible messages, and to ENCOURAGE CHURCH LEADERS to keep on keeping on for Christ. God sent some evangelists to encourage the pastor-teachers in their arduous and discouraging work. CALL and see what a revival can do for the community, the church, and the called!
